Aquaforest Amino Mix

Amino Mix is a concentrated amino acid supplement for reef aquariums, built around a blend that includes biotin, alanine, glutamine, leucine, lysine and serine. Heavy skimming and filtration can strip these organic compounds from the water, and the resulting low nutrient levels often show up as pale corals or bleaching. Dosing returns the amino acids corals rely on, supporting colour and condition.

The selected amino acids encourage zooxanthellae numbers, which in turn support photosynthetic pigments such as chlorophyll. That means corals capture more energy from your lighting, hold better colour and grow more quickly, with improved immunity over the longer term. It suits SPS, LPS and soft corals, clams and other filter feeders, and is described as a necessity for ultra low nutrient and probiotic systems, though it can be used in almost any reef tank.

Dosage is 1 drop per 100 L (27 US gal) every other day after lights out. Do not dilute it or mix it with other products in one container. A dosing pump can be used provided it dispenses in drops. Once opened, store in the fridge if the temperature exceeds 24°C (75°F), and avoid overtightening the cap so the cover is not damaged.

Every tank is different, so start at a quarter to half the dose and watch how your corals respond before working up to the full dose. Feed SPS and LPS after the lights go out, and Zoanthus, Ricordea and mushroom corals during the day. Dose directly into the aquarium and switch the skimmer off for about an hour during feeding. Available in 10 mL and 50 mL.
