Aquaforest AF Build

AF Build is a liquid reef supplement that speeds up the uptake of calcium and carbonate, the two elements hard corals rely on for building skeleton. By supplying what corals need for calcification, it helps support steady growth rates, and it also raises and holds pH at a stable level. Long-term pH swings can slow calcification, inhibit the growth of limestone algae and, in extreme cases, stop calcification altogether.

Used regularly, it helps guard against the pH drops that come with decomposing food and nutrient spikes, and the more balanced parameters that follow can improve water clarity and support coral colour and growth. It also works to reduce lower-order algae and inhibit pathogenic cyanobacteria. That makes it well suited to tanks running an intensive coral feeding regime, particularly alongside a high-nutrition supplement such as AF Energy. The formula contains iodides and calcium carbonate.

Dosage is 1 drop per 100 L (27 US gal) of water every other day after lights out. Do not dilute it or mix it with other products in one container. It can be run through a dosing pump provided the pump dispenses in drops. Once opened, store it in the fridge if temperatures exceed 24°C (75°F), and take care not to overtighten the cap, as the cover can be damaged.

Every aquarium is different, so the right dose will vary with your coral mix. Start at half or even a quarter of the recommended dose, watch how the corals respond, and build up to the target dose once there is no sign of overdose. Feed SPS and LPS after lights out, and Zoanthus, Ricordea and other mushroom corals during the day, dispensing directly into the tank and switching the skimmer off for around an hour. Available in 10ml and 50ml.
