The Tini Refugium LED is a compact, purpose-built light designed to grow macroalgae in reef aquarium refugiums.

A refugium is a separate section of your aquarium system where algae can grow and absorb excess nutrients from the water. With the right lighting, macroalgae such as Chaetomorpha can grow steadily, helping remove nutrients as you harvest and discard the excess algae.

The Tini Refugium LED is designed to provide the intensity and spectrum needed for this job, helping turn a small sump compartment into a productive part of your reef filtration system. 

Light designed for macroalgae

Not all aquarium lighting is designed for the same purpose. Reef display lights are often built to illuminate corals and bring out their colours, while refugium lighting is focused on growing algae efficiently.

The Tini Refugium LED uses a WRGB LED configuration selected for macroalgae growth. It delivers purpose-built illumination for a working refugium, where growth and nutrient uptake matter more than how the light looks over a display tank.

Compact, practical and ready to run

Measuring just 15 × 8 × 3 cm, the Tini Refugium LED is designed to fit into compact aquarium systems and sump compartments.

The kit includes the light, power supply and adjustable-angle mounting arm, so you have the essentials needed to get started without sourcing separate mounting hardware.

The aluminium mount also acts as a heatsink, helping dissipate heat while keeping the fixture compact and uncluttered.

A well-run refugium can be an important part of managing nutrients in a reef aquarium. As macroalgae grows, it takes up nutrients from the water. Harvesting that growth exports some of those nutrients from the system.
